Just had to say that its so nice to be using a phone that doesn't have memory issues! I'm posting this on hofo, have IM plus running in the background, am recieving blackberry email at the same time and am streaming smoothbeats.com at the same time! This is what its all about. Oh and thanks tmo for an edge connection capable of handling all that ;,)

YUP!!...I'm going to miss this...
Open:
Messaging-email
Podcasting open and playing a podcast.
Wap open (look at the gprs connection)
Contacts.
Log.
Bluetooth Connection
....it was in early November and I think I had something else running as well but it was smooth sailing!!!

Yes, and it kicks so much *** in the memory department I can't believe it. Best S60 phone I've ever used for memory management, have yet to get a 'low memory error' or have any programs crap out on me.

6620 was the shiz for memory mgmt as well. At at time when most people could barely run Opera, the 6620 would run Opera AND have about 8 other things in the background

@Pakyooh: There's a sticky at the top of the forum that's got a bunch of freeware listings. One of the links is for 'S60 Internet Radio'. Go to the site, download the two files (one is the shoutcast engine, the other is the actual Internet Radio player). Install them both. Now you can play internet radio. To add more stations, just go to 'shoutcast.com', search for a genre you like (smoothbeats is just my favorite station), hit the 'listen in' button, and you will download a .pls file. Save that file to the shoutcast directory, and it adds the stations to the list in your Internet Radio application.

I have to say a HELLS YEAH to that! I miss the 6620 as well - you suggested to me to buy it back 2 yrs ago; best multitasking phone ever.

I'm considering all fronts on the new phones WM5 Smartphone (HTC S620: WiFi, just dont like the E61 styling) or the N75 (simply georgeous) or the 6290.

I just want a nice slightly slim (not razr thin) flipphone S60 with WiFi! Common Nokia its not that hard is it?

Olly glad your enjoying your phone. Now wait until you enjoy web surfing on WiFi while receiving BB email over EDGE! Now THAT is pure heaven!

Are you sure that you haven't exited out of them? Hitting the end key exits the program. If you wan't to minimize the program double click the menu key.

Let me see, the no. 1 thing i hate most about v3. THE END KEY EXITS PROGRAMS!!!! argh
I mean, the right soft key, which is right next to the end key, usually has EXIT as its operation, why why why why why why does the END key exit programs too???

Now instead of the familiar one-click on the end key to get home/standby screen, i have to hunt for the menu key and press it twice.

no low memory warning eh? Well obviously you won't get that warning, because the E61 will shutdown randomly the applications you arent using to make memory.

Once I had Web, Tomtom, Mig33(MSN), and when I loaded Travelmate, I got the info I needed from it, only to come back with NOTHING running in the background anymore

Happens often.

Then again, Tomtom and Web take a LOAD of memory.

That is a good point! Either the exit or the end key require only key stroke so why not stick with what was tried and true. My theory on this is that nokia planned to release these new crop of phones as power hungry LOW RAM handsets (multi-media CPUs...ehhehh)...and they want you to exit the program so the phone can avoid low memory issues.

I've had 3 v3's and they all do that. I checked all of the open apps through the menu key and all running smoothly. Web browsing seems to be the kicker when loading up certian sites.

All symbian phones should be like that...none of this 'memory low' crap
