We want to get BEV but plan to have 7 HDTVs and therefore a combination of HD / HDPVR receivers. Does this mean that we will need multiple dishes (I suspect so) even though the requirement for more than 2 channels showing at one time would be limited? If so, would this need to be 2 or 3 and what does this do to the monthly charges?

You will need to get the reception for both SAT 91 and SAT 82.

Only 6 receivers are permitted in a residential account, but 9200 is calculated as one receiver.

If you want 7 receivers you will need to have 2 accounts.

You can 40-50+ receivers off one dish with the right setup of equipment. But like AEV said the max is 6, although a dual tunner (9200) may count as one but I believe it only has 1 HDMI out, so one of the two HD TV's attached to it will have to use a component output...I believe.

As stated only 6 allowed per account.

setup I would do

DPP twin lnb
2 DPP 44 switches
DPP separators for the dual tuner receivers.

This allows one dish. 2 lines into the house. With the DPP 44's trunkated you get 8 outputs and with DPP separator you need only one line to the dual receivers.

Yes that would be the ideal set up. Cleanest, with the least amount of cable runs.

Personally, I like having multiple dishes.

I've had an lnb go bad in the winter and other reception issues (snow/ice for example) that affected one of the 2 dishes I have up. All I had to do was temporarily watch on another tv/receiver until I could resolve the issue at my convenience or swap the cables over.

check your info my dear
6 TUNERS are allowed per account
i know this, because i spent hours on the phone, arguing this
i have 4 standard tuners and 1 9200 dual tuner
this was also a problem on the latest programming brochure that bell released, stating up to 6 receivers were allowed per account
when i brought this to the CSR's attention, she said i, and the brochure were mistaken
maybe some proof reading should be done, so errors like this, and having a rogers remote on the brochure dont happen

I heard talk on here before that this is a recent change, a 5200/9200 counted as one but the policy must haved changed, I guess it isn't being enforced all the time. Really sucks if you want to use 2 tuners on one tv.

It is not tuners they are counting as receivers, but acess devices they must activate per aco**** which is limited to 6.

Any dual tuner receiver counts as one access device, since it is activated as one unit.

I'm pretty sure its 6 receivers. Also I have 2 dishes. I love the look of 2 dishes.

Depends entirely on where and how they are mounted. I would agree if you had to screw it to your front door, but up on a roof is a different story.

Each location is unique. Multiple dishes may or may not be visible. I know a few people that went with multiple dishes, one on each side of the house, to reduce cable lengths.

Often, people do not consider it a possibility. Personally, since I got a number of dishes when I purchased my receivers, I find it cheaper (free) and more reliable since there are less parts to fail.

i would use extreme caution, when installing multiple dishes to your roof
if you dont want to take my word for it, check the fine print on your warranty when you have your roof replaced, and see if it voids your warranty
betcha it does
i aint a roofer, but i would take their word for it, especially if not listening can cost me $$$$

"Up on the roof" is a general term rather than a literal statement. The point was the height and location in relation to the rest of the house. Mounted on a chimney or other vertical structure rather than on the surface and shingles is pretty much a no-brainer.

Besides, warranty? But that off topic. :)
