multi track recording using midi?

i have a 8 track recorder its pretty old and a keyboard and midi cables can i record me playing my keyboard on it its not a laptop multi track recorder its a board if so how... i searched you tube that didnt help... i want to see if i can make beats with just a multi track recorder midi cables and a keyboard for starters
