Muffler decision.

I drive a newly acquired Suzuki GS500E, it has some sort of aftermarket F1 muffler.

Keep in mind I know nothing about mufflers or bikes in general, but most the sport bikes I see around here have a higher pitch scream sound to them. (A mean sound)

Well, the GS500 seems to have more of a chuggy deeper sound to it, and I'm unsure if thats just the way the motor sounds, or if its this muffler thats on there.

Here's a picture of the muffler;

Thanks, Rob.

Two things.

First. That's an aftermarket exhaust.

Second. The GS is a parallel twin. Since all the work is getting done by two cylinders it will sound deeper as opposed to a I-4. The fours will have the sound of a shrieking banshee. Especially, with an aftermarket exhaust.

Enjoy your ride!!! :bluethum:

(Psst.....the Eighties called.....they want them wheels back!) :wink: :mrgreen:

Yeah sorry, the question was basically, "is there a way to get the higher pitched sound out of the twin motor?"

Thanks for the info. And as far as the wheels go, they came like that stock apparently...Do you think it would do them justice to paint them black?

Don't apologize for asking a question. Especially one with a lot of merit to it.

The blacked out look is always sweet to me. Don't get me wrong. The white wheels are just fine, they just remind me of the Eighties. :bluethum:

haha it is a 93 bike, so it isn't very far from the awesome eighties.

I was considering painting them a flat or gloss black though for a sleeker look.
