So, Darla is pointing out the goodies she found at the other International sites like Nokia Hong kong and Nokia China.

Apperently they have MSN live messenger for the N93 and others up for download, and I tried and it works! there are a lot of goodies to be found.
Including the N80 support page that has a lot of stuff. I'm glad I have my messenger back.

N93 support page: http://www.nokia.com.hk/nokia/0,,98970,00.html
N80 support page (a lot more stuff): http://www.nokia.com.hk/nokia/0,,98973,00.html

N73 support page: http://www.nokia.com.hk/nokia/0,,98969,00.html

enjoy!

I've had this app for a while but when I tried to use it a couple of days ago I got a message that I had to subscribe to the service and pay. I re-downloaded the app just in case a newer one did away with the subscription requirement but I get the same message.

"To continue using Windows Live Messenger, you need subscribe mobile MSN service (10RMB per month). If you agree to subscribe the service, the client will automatically draft a subscription SMS and you need agree to send the message out. You will receive a confirmation SMS, which guides you to finish the subscription."

Click OK and you get:

"Notice: It is FREE of charge to use this Windows Live Messenger mobile client if you have already subscribed MSN SMS service. But you are still required to send out the subscription SMS drafted by the client for service confirmation."

You hit OK again and the phone tries to send a message to 8168 which fails on T-Mobile.

I am using the v2 version of the app but I would think they are all the same. Has anyone been able to log on?

I had the previous version that was available from various forums, it worked and stopped working and I too got that message. But Itried this one from Nokia's site and I just went online using this app....so it works fine now.

Hmm. I guess the v2 version will not work then. Hopefully they won't close the v3 version in the future. Guess it's time for a phone upgrade.. hehe

Ok. So with the newer version, does the messenger remain on all the time so long as your handset is on, or do you have to actually log in to MSN messenger going through your handset's web browser to sign in everytime you want to use it? Yes, a foolish question, but I really must know....

Alright. Messenger works perfectly on my N80. I am using it now while listening to music on my phone...works flawlessly...I can't believe how good it works. It also runs in the background and makes the messenger noise when I get a message.

Newtype is pleased -

Edit: And no you don't have to sign in through your phone's browser...it is a separate program that can run in the background.

The previous version I downloaded gave me the message to pay and use the service. This was a couple of months ago. This version works again.

Hooooooooooray!

I wonder why they provide so many different types of software to Hong Kong users and not the the rest of the World?

The games anyone can live without, but something as basic and necessary as the MSN Live messenger should be made available to everyone.

Kudos to Darla who found this stuff in the first place and not to forget the dude who dug out the previous version of the msn live messenger.

Thank You very much.

is there an .jar version? or an SE version?

i have the mobile.msn.com.cn version but im sure it will expire soon...

is there a program for converting .sis to .jar?

cheers

Glad its working!! I installed the new version as well and it overwrote the previous version. Now its working fine.

There are also some other finds on there such as the Text to Speech application but that won't work without the Message Reader app.... don't worry... I've already started my search for that!

Wirelessly posted (Nokia E61: Mozilla/5.0 (SymbianOS/9.1; U; en-us) AppleWebKit/413 (KHTML, like Gecko) Safari/413 es61)

I installed it on my E61 and it now works again. I used to use ut but then it asked for a subscription. This one is back to free.
