I have had back pain for 7 years, I am only 31. I have had facet, epidural injections and everyday I feel like someone is stabbing and burning me at the same time in the lower back, hip, thigh buttock, and when I pickup my daughter, my entire leg. All of this on my left side.

Latest MRI Report: I have 2 previous MRI'S

L5-S1: Disc desiccation as well as broad-based disc extrusion are again seen with new left paracentral component which causes mild leftward central canal stenosis. The disc appears to abut the left and perhaps the right S1 nerve roots without significant mass effect. Annular disc tear and facet athropathy are again seen.

IMPRESSION:
Interval progression in L5-S1 broad-based disc extrusion with left paracentral component and abutment of the left and potentially the right S1 nerve root.

PLEASE PUT THAT INTO ENGLISH.

I read it as you having spinal stenosis which compresses the nerves, I have a similar problem and I am going to have fusion surgery at some later date. But you need to talk to your doctor, whoever ordered the MRI probably a surgeon. And they will put you on the appropriate medication and may even suggest surgery later on if other less invasive treatments don't help you. But it may be a long road depending on how bad it is.
But I am not a doctor, only a fellow sufferer. Good luck with your consultation and let us know how you go. Allan

I have an appointment with a neurosugeon March 17th. I am just over it. I have tried everything non-surgical and I take 4-5/day Lortab 5/500 and I am tired of taking them. I take 2 in the morning just to get out of bed. I worry about addiction, but at this point I don't care. Quality of life or misery!?!?

Thanks for the reply and good luck to you with your back problems.
