Mr. Oppotunity (Honda)

Is anyone familiar with the Honda car TV commercials with an animated character (voiced by Rob Paulsen) named Mr. Oppotunity who talks about an annual year-end new car clearance? "I'm Mr. Oppotunity, I'm back, and I'm knocking!"
 
Rob Paulsen is one of my favorite voice actors, so it's cool to be able to hear him at random intervals throughout the day. (Even on the radio.)

It started off as just a voice over, but I guess they liked him enough to give him an actual character. I was worried awhile back because I saw a commercial that only featured images of the character and another voice actor, and I was like, "Oh, great, they dumped him in favor of someone else." But then I saw a new one a few days later with Paulsen back, so I was glad to see they hadn't gotten rid of him.
 
I can't stand his hair. It looks stupid the way it sticks up in front like that. And it kind of bobs around and stuff. He really needs to cut that thing off.
 
When did Mr. Oppotunity first do Honda commercials as a voice over? 2003? And he didn't become an animated character until 2004-2005?

I wonder if Mr. Oppotunity is modeled after Rob Paulsen (the voice for him), I thought he looked like a cartoon knockoff of movie actor Adam Sandler.
 
I think 2003 is about right; maybe 2004. Can't remember when he became animated, but it probably was 2005 because I remember hearing him do the voice overs for about a year or so before the character finally showed up.
