There is that one scene in "Homer Goes to College" (Season 5) where everybody's sleeping, including Mr. Burns. And on the floor beside him was Smithers, whom starts acting like a dog (twitching and all).

There's a joke from season 3 that I kept missing until recently. Burns takes up beekeeping. He names all his bees and he names the queen "Smithers".
