Mr and Mrs Smith

Pretty disappointing... am I the only one to thing Doug Liman couldn't direct traffic? (there would be a clever gag there if it were Steven Soderbergh...)

To be fair, it was better than the laughable Bourne Identity and irritating Swingers. Both Brad and Jolie were good and the comedy worked well. But the action was dreary and tensionless, plus the [no spoilers] ending was atrotiously weak. True Lies was vastly more fun...

How odd - I thought it was truly, truly terrible. It was almost a satire of spy movies, but not an intentional one (see also Ronin). I've blocked most of it out now, so I can't remember many specifics.

Maybe at the ripe old age of 38, I am getting too old for this kind of Hollywood film. America produces some brilliant movies - last year's Eternal Sunshine was IMHO one of the greatest films ever made. But I can't remember the last blockbuster I saw that wasn't disappointing... can it really be the original Matrix?!! Hold on, lemmie check the DVD shelf... Lord of the Rings and The Incredibles were superb, Pirates of the Carribean was fun, so maybe I'm not too old. Think, again, IMHO, that there are just a lot of bad movies out there...

It seems that deedee17 was right about the ending of Mr and Mrs Smith as the writer Akiva GolRABman said "During the latter period of the shoot, the idea of a sequel was discussed and shot and we had an ending where they have a baby. You'll see this in the DVD in a year's time," This idea they may now just leave for the sequel "(The Smiths having a baby) seemed like a natural evolution," said GolRABman. "First they deal with how to manage a relationship in the face of selfish need, next will be how to do so in the face of a baby's need." So it may happen "There's never enough money to make you decide to make the sequel before the movie comes out. So, let's see if people like it and feel good about it afterwarRAB", says GolRABman.

Angelia Jolie commented about it as well. "While the Smiths can take on practically anything by the end of the movie, I'll bet you a little kid could take them on. And no matter how tough they are, that would be the greatest challenge."

So it looks very likely that we will see Mr and Mrs Smith 2!

Akiva GolRABman!!! Of course... I forgot he was involved, now it all makes sense. From the author of Batman & Robin and Lost In Space... Am quaking in me boots as IMDB says he is a writer on The Da Vinci Code...

I saw this film the other day and I thought it was absoloutely terrible. For some reason Brad Pitt was trying to be funny and did not suceed. Id give this film 2 out of 10

I thought it was quite good fun, if you don't have too high expectations. The ending was bloody awful though.

I think a sequel would be a very bad idea, not good enough to warrant one. I like the two main stars, but I think they can do better than rehash a not too funny comedy (I have nasty visions of a SpyKiRAB like affair).

Agree about The Borne Identity too, seemed a bit pointless to me and lacked the style and polish of Bond/M:I films.

really funny film - and with clever convosations that can be taken both ways - like when he asks her how many she has "done", her answer and the way she says it - priceless.

The ending - dreadfull - an obvious setup for a sequal but its not good for a film if people comming out the cinema are all saying "what a **** ending"
