MPEG-4 at Bell one of the key priorities for 2007

Cost may be the determining factor here. MPEG4 licences are prohibitively expensive, somewhere in the tens of thousands of dollars per channel. It's easier for them to simply ignore MPEG4 and stay with the cheaper MPEG2 technology which is already paid for.

All I can say is part of the delay was caused by the Teacher Buy out of Bell that aborted. A lot of internal project were put on hold... not only by Bell but also by Teachers.... and it took a few month to recover those holds.
Most of the internal projects where frozen from 2007 to 2009.

Now Bell is back at a good pace, internaly and externaly... Bell IPTV is a sign
that something is coming...

Be patient

But will Bell IPTV be available nationwide, or just Ontario, and Quebec? If there plan is solely IPTV then alot of customers may be shutout, which you would think would cost Bell alot of customers and money.
