Moving to China what should I get?

Well I'm moving to China for two years, and I'm not sure what phone I should look into buying when I get there.

It would be nice if it was as full featured as possible, but still reasonably small.

It would be preferable that I could bring it back and use it when I'm visiting the States.

Anyways Hope you guys have some good ideas, THANKS!

Reasonably small... How small? Smaller than a Chocolate? Smaller than a Razr? Also, flip, straight (candybar), or slider? CDMA or GSM (keep in mind that CDMA phones bought in China will only roam in the US at the rate of about 40cents US per minute) or both (CDMA in China but GSM in the States)? Sorry for so many questions. How about this phone which is reasonably full-featured (and has touchscreen if you're into that) and somewhat small (smaller than what I normally use, anyway).

I'm pretty much open to anything as far as design (slider, candybar, flip) is concerned, and when I say small, I just mean I don't want a Treo sized phone. As far as network is concerned, I would prefer GSM Quad Band, but if the phone is just too cool to pass up I would consider other, even China only, networks. Mostly I just want something you can't just buy in the states, that phone you linked is a pretty good start.

Do you know what network they use : CDMA, WCDMA, GSM? Once you know that, then you can decide on the phone. Have you spoken to anyone living there about cell coverage and phones?

Right! Where in China are you living? Generally, I've found CDMA coverage to be slightly better than GSM in China in elevators- I could generally hold onto 2 bars or so with my StarTAC 2004 but with my Toshiba 904T I get no signal- and in rural areas. If you're going to be living in a city, then you can go for either. The phone I linked for you gives you both CDMA and GSM if you're indecisive; it's dual-SIM- one slot for CDMA and one for GSM, and I think it's also possible to have dual-GSM or dual-CDMA so if you're into that then you can have 2 SIMs in one phone like this without having to buy one of those add-on things. I live in Shanghai right now, so if you're going to be living there I can help out some.
