moving on from v710 to razr/samsung a930? suggestions?

I'll soon be retiring my v710.

I'm not sure if the guys I've spoken with at the Verizon store know what they're talking about - but they all tell me the v710 is one of the best phones Motorola ever made. Is this true? Am I dumb for thinking about replacing my v710 (it still works fine - just a few bumps and bruises on it over the years).

Anyway - I'm considering 2 pretty different phones - a Razr v3m and the Samsung a930.

One one hand I really like the thin body on the Razr but I'm afraid I'll miss the "heft" of my v710 - and I really like the looks of the a930 - I love the black color scheme and the OLED display (and if it were "thin" like the Razr but still kept it's look - there'd be no contest for me).

I'll probably toss a 1gb card in either one and put some music on it - so ease of doing that would be something to consider too. Is one easier to do this with than the other?

Another issue I have is the holster arrangement of either phone - I really would prefer a plain old plastic belt clip/holster deal that's nice and thin and comfy but one that allows me to open the phone w/o removing it from the holster. I know of a Razr holster that allows opening the phone while still in the holster - but I'm unsure on the Samsung a930.

From what I've read the Samsung has pretty good reception. Not sure on the Razr - my wife recently got the pink v3m and so far it seems ok to me.

Can anyone offer any suggestions or experiences with either phone - especially if you've moved to either from a v710? Thanks in advance.

I'm in the Pittsburgh, PA area if that helps - reception experience-wise.

I have an e815 (the update to the v710) and I have tried multiple Verizon phones and none have been better than my e815. I tried an a930 for a little while and I was not impressed. From what I could tell the mp3 player did not play mp3 files, only wma. The reception was not nearly as good as on my e815. And, the sideways external display was kind of difficult to get used to (but I think thats just my personal preference). I have not tried a V3m, but from what I have heard it is pretty good, with above average reception. I would not recommend the a930, but it might be worth your while to look into the V3m. good luck

Yeah the a930 doesnt play mp3 the lg8300 is as heft as you put it to the v710 and can play mp3s in the hidden menu the v3m is a good phone too but i would keep the v710 as a back up i know it has bad rep becuase of verizon but not the phone itself it was verizon that crippled it.
