The only dealer is the one in Ancorage, Alaska Cycle Center. But they are not slated to sale or work on the RSV4. They can only do very minor services, nothing major as they have no certified technicians to work on the bike.

The write-ups on the S1000RR look incredible, I say do what your heart feels

And you are right being in Fairbanks with this bike does blow, but I'll be back in Cali soon enough

I now have three bikes I'll be moving on my next PCS (the girlfriend has a Ninja 500). Long story short, I'm gonna put one in the bed of my truck and will pull a trailor with the other two. I want to rent one from UHaul but I was curious what the demisions (floor space wise) is that pallet? I am thinking about making something like that myself (mainly because I have 81.5 days of leave I have to take and therefor have some time on my hands) and I am trying to figure out how big a trailor I need.

These are the exact dimensions of the crate that I have:

The outside is 98" long by 44" wide by 52 " high

The inside is 97" long by 42 " wide by 46" high

I've done it before. The truck (Penske) had a wooden floor, so I got a sheet of 3/4 OSB board and a cheap front wheel loop. Bolted the loop on the board along with four tie down points, and screwed the whole thing to the floor with deck screws. Tied the bike down, put cover on, and wrapped it in furniture pads I got from the Penske rental. Secured them with long bungee cords.
 
overkill, all of it. i trailered my old bike from va to wa in a small buget truck. i rode it up the ramp, tied it down to the floor, and drove 3000+ miles. no probs, not a scratch.

Did Penske freak out because of the holes you drilled?

Why Penske and not uHaul? Cheaper?
 
If you use deck screws, nobody will notice the tiny holes. All they're interested in is whether the truck is clean inside.

Penske has a whole lot nicer trucks, last time we got an International 23 footer, diesel, with 50 miles on it They also will guarantee you'll get the truck exactly when you specified. I'd NEVER go back to U-Haul.

You secure the loop and tie down points with machine screws above and tee nuts underneath so the sheet will lay flat. Best place for tie downs, loops, and fittings is M&R. Just google it.
 
My wife and I are moving from Chicago to Louisville at the end of the month. We have a 22' Penske truck and planning on putting the bike in truck. Figure I will make room for it, have it on its stand/chock and tie it down as best I can.

I will never go with UHaul again. Too many issues, and they know they can screw you over because you typically have to move the day you are picking up the truck. You also have friends that have blocked off time for you.

I was going to go with Budget for this move as it was only $240 for a one-way. Penske ($460-originally) but called me the following day to came down and match Budgets price. I have heard/read tons of great reviews and as ttpete stated the trucks are typically newer.
