Moving a betta fish from cold water to heated water?

Hi, I have a betta fish who is in a bowl right now. I'm planning on getting a 5 gallon aquarium soon, with a heater and everything else. I've read that betta fish need warm water, and they're shocked when they go from cold water to heated water. How do I make this transition? Thanks for any help.
 
Get a ziplock bag and fill it with some water from his bowl. Put him in the bag, and float the bag in his new tank for at least 30 minutes, so the temperatures are even. Then add a lil bit of water from his new tank into the bag hes in. Wait 15 minutes and do this again. Then wait 15 more minutes, and then put him in the new tank. :)
 
Put the same water temperature but use a heater while the water will slowly change to a warmer temperature.They''ll be fine but do it carefully.
 
Betta's are tropical fish and should be in warm water. The answer to your question about putting the fish in and then heating the tank and fish slowly is the best answer. Just because they are sold in little tubs in stores does not mean they like cold water or little jars. Since when do pet stores do what is right for the fish/dog/cat. You do have some reputable pet stores out their that will have one male betta per tank with other fish in the heated tanks. They were originally found wild in tropical streams in Taiwan.
 
when you get your new tank add some of the gravel from your bowl wait for the tank to stabilize (about 24 hours) then place your betta into a plastic bag like you brought home in and float the bag on the water for about 15 minutes so the temperature can become the same. if you want to have some fun if your male starts to build a bubble nest get him a female and let him have babies Do not introduce the female or leave the female with him prior to bubble nest or after egg laying is done or he will kill her

set up your new aquarium and everything then get a bag with water from the bowl put him in it and let him sit for 15 minutes then you can put him in
