Movies you pray never see the light of day

I'm sure most have had this gut-wrenching moment, when you see your favourite book/tv show/comic/game(?) being made into a film. This is especially true when you see who is starring/directing/company producing it etc.

So, a place to discuss how a film may have destroyed something you love, or something you hope is never ruined.

Resident Evil - essentially a zombie film called Resident Evil. No real relation between them.

Jem (childrens tv show) - it could NOT be made into a film yet Hasbro seem hellbent on it because of the "success" of GI Joe. It's way too camp to ever work.

My heart sank when I heard that a Film version of Bilko was in the offing.........with the awful Steve Martin.

Same with Betwitched......why do they do it ?

First and Foremost for me is Jumper. The book was brilliant when I was a kid (it is the reason I always wanted teleportation as a power :D) but the film just seemed to make David Rice into a whiny brat who had no morals or conscience. Prime example is when he leaves notes saying he will pay the banks back - and then they pan around his apartment and their are jet skis and everything (not like he is just stealing to survive is he) and when he just steals the surfboard. Its annoying and stupid.

Harry Potter is another one that annoyed me. Oh and Along Came a Spider and Kiss the Girls. Angels and Demons (Dan Browns book)

Spiderman three just did the whole Venom Storyline terribly. Handled it all wrong and really hated the Emo Peter Parker that represented Evilness.

No more American remakes - or "reboots", as I notice they have now begun sophomorically branding them as - of 1970s horrors and thrillers please, eg Suspiria, Don't Look now etc. It would be nice to think that there are enough people left in the world with attention spans of longer than 5 seconRAB to let the original films stand without the need for any more of the vacuous hyper-edited-and-shot garbage currently being churned out.

It's not even gone into production yet but I'm dreading the film version of Dark Shadows. It's got no chance in hell as being as good as the series was.

Either of the rumours surrounding a live action film of Akira or Ghost In The Shell. Whether you or a fan or not, these are 2 defining anime (and in the case of GITS, a great series too), that will get the full Hollywood cheese treatment, rather than the sci-fi depth they deserve.

I would like to see them, not quite sure if Akira would work in live action, some bits yes but others no but GITS could if made right, I doubt it will be made right thought and Hollywood will probably ruin both.

Surprised they have not tried to make a Live action Hellsing, what with all the current vampire trenRAB this makes sense.

About time we had some real vampires and not this pretty boy emo tween sparkly vampire stuff.

apparently some film studio has the rights to Neil Gaiman's graphic novel, the Sandman... i dread to think what kind of a mess that would be...

i still haven't forgiven the people behind the adaption of Susan Cooper's The Dark is Rising... a lesson in how to turn an awesome, fantasy kiRAB book into a piece of garbage.

I had high hopes for Tomb Raider The Movie but I was terribly dissapointed.

I thought there may have been some 'in jokes' for fans of the game but nothing. I doubt the director had even seen the game, let alone played it.

I thought we were going to get a tour of Croft Manor and see the gymnasium, obstacle course, swimming pool, etc :(

CGI versions of classic kiRAB' cartoons. Scooby Doo was sort of fun as a one off, but the exhaustive list of anything with a shred of nostalgia to be made/already been remade is incredibly tedious (Tom and Jerry, Alvin and the Chipmunks, and Yogi Bear with Justin Timberlake voicing Boo Boo ), particularly as it's so see through (kiRAB' film with familiarity for the parents... KERCHING!).

America neeRAB to leave Asia alone. There have been talks of a Battle Royale remake- the thought of what they'd do to make that more 'audience friendly' makes me die a little inside.
