Movies you loved as a kid that now disappoints

Which movies did you love when you were younger that you've seen at an older age that turned out to be a massive disappointment?

IT (Stephen King) - Scared the living daylights out of me when I was 12, watched it recently, absolute crap!!

That's my main one, FLight of the Navigator was another but I guess that was due to the poor looking grapics!!

I still love Stephen king's IT. Best tv movie ever.

Films that disappoint (but not necessarily dislike)...

The Goonies
ET
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Films that DONT disappoint (for balance)

Ghostbusters 1 & 2
Superman
Star Wars

That still makes me cry to this day :o I watched it in Spanish once when I was on holiday and I still cried. :o

I used to think of Poltergeist as being the most scary film ever. It scared me so much as a little kid. I watched it a few years ago with frienRAB and none of us could understand the terror it inflicted upon us in our youth.

Yeh I agree The Goonies. Just not as good when I watched it recently.

Still Good:

Star Wars
Back to the Future 1, 2 and 3
Ghostbusters
Superman 1 and 2
Raiders 1, 2 and 3

For me Star Wars 1 isn't as good as the first time I saw. The second and third are still amazing though. I still love episode one though, because of JarJar Binks whereas most despise it because of JarJar.

Also Back to the Future will still be amazing in 100 years it will never dissapoint. Imagine a remake in say 15 years! Or Dare I say it, someone finding the Delorean or the Train Doc is on at the end of Part 3 in working condition as another film. Oh god i know it would be awful but i really want more!

Do you know what I love Episode 1 as well. It is my 2nd fave Star Wars film after A New Hope. People just make the excuse of Jar Jar but he isn't really that bad. Episode 1 has probably the best Lightsaber fight of all the films (Duel of the Fates) and the Pod race is 2nd to none. Also Liam Neeson is the coolest Jedi ever :D

I can't really think of any films I loved as a kid but now find disappointing....

And when it comes to Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II I think I prefer them now as I get more of the jokes lol.

Bambi, I loved the atmosphere when i was a kid and cried when his mother died. But rewatched it a few months back and it had none of the atmosphere and the death scene didnt make my eyes water one bit. It actually kinda pants!

But the lion king still makes me cry!!!

Would not say I was a kid but in my mid to late teens I thought the film 'Better off dead' with Jon Cusack was hilarious and a classic. Nowadays it does not have near the same impact although I still find the paper boy, Japanese car drivers and Jon Cusack's best friend pretty amusing.

I really liked The Brady Bunch movie when it came out in 95 or whenever. Watched it recently and it's basically crap.

I never managed to see It when I was younger but watched it a few months back and it made me laugh at how many people are scared of clowns cos of it. It's not scary in the slightest. Wish I had seen it young tho to see if I'd've gotten scared.

I couldnt agree with you more i loved Liam Neeson in it too i wished Quigon hadnt been killed off-he rocked!!!:D :)BTW to poster no 8 Singin in the rain is supposed to have poofy dancing its a musical for crying out loud!!!!

Innerspace!

Loved this as a child and if my sister hadn't bought it on DVD for me at Christmas then it would still probably be one of my favourites.

As it was I banged on and on at my son to watch this amazing film and when we did sit down and watch it even I had to admit it wasn't as good as I remembered.
