Movies that should be remade.

This decade as seen a flurry of remakes which were often either pointless or rubbish
So which movies do you feel actually should be remade?

I'd say
The Omen 2 & 3 (Now they have remade the original why not not remake the full trilogy which I found really lacking overall).

Psychomania (Underrated British 70s comedy-horror which never really reached it's full potential)

Incredible Shrinking Man (If they could recreate the magic, modern technology could do for this what they did for King Kong.)

:D 'The Invasion', . Nicole Kidman, Are you sure we are not getting mixed up with 'The Stepford Wives' here.:D I mean were they both not out of this world and taking us over?

I love historical fantasies and grew up watching the Sinbad movies. It would be great if they could be remade now given the vast improvements in special effects. I know there was talk a couple of years ago of a new Sinbad movie with Keanu Reeves in the lead but I think it all fell through.

(On the flipside there are currently plans to remake Clash of the Titans and there is also a film version of Prince of Persia in the pipeline too.)

Three times? I only know 2 remakes - the Donald Sutherland one in 1978 and the new Nicole Kidman one.

The original was inspired by McCarthyism and the communist scare. The 1978 Donald Sutherland one was inspired by big business takeovers. One of the icons in the film was the Transamerica building - Transamerica had taken over United Artists who made the film.

Race With the Devil is being remade next year and hopefully will be good. That film is a classic example of a good storyline which is poorly executed.

Jacob's Ladder.

A great idea, poorly executed. There were some great scenes - the 'nightmare hospital' & the party in particular but it could have done without the conspiracy theories & Tim Robbins couldn't have look less interested.

Yes but not as a film I personally would watch, 'IOBS' is quite a classic film, that I thought others might enjoy now.
Obviously there are some films that could be remade and those that should not eg. The Thing, and yes Ive heard rumours of that somewhere also.

Well the bloke is dying and confused (hence Robbins performance) and the conspiracy theories are all ultimately red herrings in the mind of a man who can't 'let go' so you've kinda missed the point but, hey...

How about the Incredible Melting Man? I'd rather see that than Saw 29.

A remake of the Star Wars hexilogy, from start to end. However, would reduce it to a quadrilogy, make Anakin Skywalker a bit older at the start (angry teen working in a spice mine) to give him more of a reason to be angry. Lose all the trade federation stuff, kill Jar Jar Binks, remove George Lucas from his tinkering, do away with American style diners, pod racing, "death sticks", wheelled robots playing american football. Scale down the CGI. Remove the need to tie up all threaRAB.
