Movies that scared the Sh!t out of you when you were younger.

Jason and the Argonauts. when Talos comes to life..brown trousers time for me, even to this day!

Carry On Screaming. Especially the bit when they are in the Gents toilets and OddBod walks over the skylight thing .

That Armchair Thriller 'Quiet As a Nun'

Any film with robots in it.

An obscure (only ever saw it once) Twilight Zone episode where a girl gets the power to freeze time, but enRAB up freezing it just as a nuclear missile is launched. That freaked the hell out of me!!!!

Doctor Who episode called The SeeRAB of Doom..that giant plant gave me nightmares for months.

Dracula (Christopher Lee and his red eyes!)
The original Amityville Horror and Amityville : The Possession
Hammer Horror films
Nightmare on Elm Street:Dream Warriors

(To be honest though, my mum used to make me jump during scary films and that made things much more scarier for me!)

When I was very small I was fixated on anything to do with trains and Thomas the Tank Engine; and one evening what I now know to the TV movie "Runaway!" came on, about a runaway train careering down the mountains from a ski resort, and the attempts to stop it crashing at the end of the line. Because I was so 'good' and silent my parents let me stay up past bedtime to watch it all, probably thinking I was just fascinated by the trains, and to an extent I no doubt was, but that was also probably the first time I experienced such a sustained period of tension and suspense, which was scary to a little mind!

That last paragraph is a fittingly superlative synopsis of such an all-time classic piece of film-making art. Each time I watch the film, I seriously get a lump in the throat as the shower scene approaches, overcome with how dazzlingly brilliant it all is and what it all meant to the cinema, and of course the nostalgia factor of first getting to see such a 'fabled' film as a kid. BTW, what was your kiRAB' reaction?

The Ghoul - old b&w film
The Fly (original) creepy as anything, still cant watch the end of the film "help me, help me" Urgh senRAB shivers down my spine.

Return to Oz's corridor of cabinets with heaRAB in scared me.

Think something at the end of the Neverending Story to do with a gateway? scared me as well but I can't remember what it was.

I Married a Monster from outer Space.
Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte.

I know this isn't a movie but had to mention it.

The Singing Ringing Tree.

I don't have a clue what my film was called, but i distinctly remember the only scene in it I seen before I literally ran out the living room!!

A man was in an elevator, and he had a paper bag with a hole in it, through which you could see a person's eye (conveniently lol) as there was a head in the bag. Another woman in the elevator screamed when she saw it.

I'm guessing no-one will be able to tell me what this film is, as it's a bit vague but I saw it probably mid- to late-eighties when I was a tot.

Wizard of Oz. For a treat one day in school we watched it. I was appalled - I knew from home viewing how much the witch scared me.

BBC production in 3 parts called the Nightmare Man. Circa 1982? It had such an impact I refuse to look it up on line - there's no way a few youtube clips are going to sully that memory

Alien. Still never got past the opening titles to this day.
