Movies that make you fall asleep.

After watching "Avatar" yesterday a friend of mine said I dozed off for about 10 minutes. lol
I remember doing the same with "Lord Of The Rings" and "Bladerunner".

To this very day, I still cannot get through "Lord Of The Rings" - it bores the life out of me.

Any movies do that to you?

OK, most of you will probably not agree with me on this one, but here goes.

Movies do not send you to sleep.

There.

It is actually very common for people to fall asleep in cinemas, particularly when watching long movies. Maybe not for the whole movie, maybe for short perioRAB, but even I do it sometimes.

The myth is that it denotes that you are falling asleep because the movie is boring.

You fall asleep because you are tired...and in these days when most of us live busy lives, and rarely get a full 8 hours sleep, and maybe even have had a drink or two...you sit down in a comfortable chair in the dark for a couple of hours, you are going to relax and...presto.

I have fallen asleep in movies I have really been enjoying, and I am sure many others have too.

And I will also say that this is probably more true when people watch films at home these days, especially after a days work and probably a meal, then settling down on a comfy sofa with a drink or two.

I regularly fall asleep during movies. However I always think that if a movie is interesting enough it'll grab your attention enough that you don't fall asleep. Ones that I have slept through most of that come to mind are

Panic Room
Mulholland Drive
No Country for Old Men
Paranormal Activity
Amelie
Pearl Harbour

Ones that I wish I could have slept through....

Titanic
Australia

I didn't fall asleep, but here are movies I abandoned after sheer boredom:

Lord of the Rings: DVD ejected after 40 mins. Obviously I haven't watched any of the sequels.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind: DVD ejected after about 60 mins. Diabolical.

Yes I completely agree. I saw Eternal Sunshine at the cinema and fell asleep after 30 mins. I gavei it a second go on dvd and once again fell asleep. Thank goodness someone else finRAB this film boring. Usually on here it is heaped with praise. Someone voted it best film of the decade. i would say one of the worst.

Superman Returns is the only film I've actually fallen asleep during while at the cinema. I was very tired, but it was also supremely boring so I had no excuse to stay awake. Until something loud (rather selfishly) happened.

My mate fell asleep during The Matrix Reloaded, about half way through if I remember. I nearly fell asleep during The Departed but that was more because I had a long day.

Nearly fell asleep through All the Kings men (2006) I tried to like this film, but it was boring beyond belief.

I've never got beyond 20 minutes of The Thin Red Line before I'm off to dreamland. I've tried at least 4 times to watch the movie but with the same effect every time.

I fell asleep watching Avatar 2-D (re-watched it in 3-D and loved it :p)

Also New Moon.

Only two films I've ever fallen asleep in the cinema watching. Funny how they were released both this year/last.
