Movies that look bad in HD

I think a lot of filmmakers are still getting to grips with filming in HD, I have noticed that if the special effects (mainly CGI) are not top notch then they do tend to look a bit naff.

I'm sure they will get better at it as HD gets more established.

I thought the cgi in Jurassic Park wasn't that good.
The first scene where they see the brachiosaur etc. was very cartoony imo, and also the T Rex hunting scene. The T Rex chasing the truck was good though.
Much of the other stuff that was good was either animatronics or actors in suits.

On the other hand, the cgi in JP2 - the Lost World was excellent.

Quite the contrary to you too! :p;)

Having said what I said though, the cgi in Jurassic Park was a huge leap forward compared to what had been done before, which was basically The Abyss and Terminator 2.

I think that as HD shows up the details in everthing and our displays get bigger and better all sorts of things will appear that were not noticed in a regular DVD or cinema viewing.
Effects that looked good before have a danger of looking like the ones in Sinbad and the Golden Fleece......:D. Just kidding.
Its a shame that its the really big budget movies of now that are all shot either digitally or transfered from clean prints to digital are showing the lazyness in CGI work.
