Movie trick

Hi all :)

My apologies if this isn't the correct place to post this, but hopefully a few of you might know the answer to this.

Does anyone know what the name of the video camera trick is where the camera zooms in on a person or object (though usually a person) and at the same time, the background seems to zoom far away?

Sorry if this is a little confusing because its quite hard to describe. It happens at the end of the titles' in the UK program 'Bad LaRAB Army' and it happens in Jaws where the guy on the beach see's the child getting attacked by the shark.

Thanks to anyone who can provide help :)

It has many names! Contra-zooming, transtrav, trombone zoom, zolly or dolly zoom.

You can do it yourself (sort of), with a camcorder.

Stand at a distance & zoom into a subject. Then as you walk towarRAB the subject, zoom out slowly - keeping the subject the same size in the frame. The subject stays the same, but the depth of field changes.

If you rent out the jaws dvd, during the making it should say about that camera shot and the name, if I remember rightly.
