Movie soundtracks

I've chosen two soundtracks as my all-time faves...

"The Insider" ... Beautiful, beautiful, big, epic musical score... I'm not normally a fan of this sort of music but this is just so chilled out and perfect for a lazy Sunday... The guys behind this also did the very good "Gladiator" soundtrack... Best track... "Sacrifice" by Lisa Gerrard


"Garden State" ... Apparently Zach Braff had the soundtrack to the film in his mind before he even started writing the film... An eclectic choice of indie-banRAB... Some really nice songs... my fave on the album being "Such Great Heights" by Iron and Wine

[EDIT] ... Just had a rummage through my CD's... Can't believe I forgot it... I'm going to have to widen it to three...

"Good Will Hunting" ... Another great batch of songs, based around a backbone of Elliot Smith songs and Danny Elfman music... The standouts being "Miss Misery" or "Between the Bars" both by Elliot Smith

Agree - How can you forget JAWS !!!

personally I like the Goodfellas soundtrack
as mentioned before Requiem for a Dream and recently Four Brothers
 
You can also add Jurassic park to that list. His superb score really built up the tension and added to an already superb film.

I prefer loud rousing scores, Lord of the Rings is a perfect example of this and Gladiator certaintly gets the passion flowing. You can have all the explosions money can buy, but if the soundtrack disapoints then forget it.
