Movie soundtracks

A poor soundtrack can ruin a movie, but a great soundtrack can immortalise it.

For example: Good Morning Vietnam's 'What a wonderful world'.

This thread may possibly provide yet another reason to dwell on the 80's ;)

I'm quite a big fan of the OST's from the Terminator trilogy, (moreso the 2nd and 1st). I find that they fit the mood and narrative perfectly.

King Arthur - Not too clever as a film, but great soundtrack
Dragonheart - Half decent film, great soundtrack
Das Boot - Beautiful soundtrack, so suits the film, its unreal.

I also love listening to all the Star Wars ones, Indiana Jones ones, some of the Star Trek ones and the Stargate movie one isn't too bad either.

Ab-so-lutley! :D

Back to the future is brill too.

Totally love Inner Space!

The Golden Child is not a good movie but great soundtrack.

Black Rain the extended score is frelling brill

The Bodyguard is a good one that sticks out in my mind, I remember my parents brought the soundtrack when I was little.

Also - Romeo and Juliet (The Baz Lurman film), Footloose and Bridget Jones Diary (but I've never seen the film) have great soundtracks.

I agree wholeheartedly the with point you make here. :)

I think the Great Soundtrack and the Special Effects on the movie "Titanic" are the films' only redeeming features. The stupid 'Rose and Jack' love story, with the ridiculous out of period behaviour, turned the film into an absolute Joke! :o

The Royal Tenebaums - cracking soundtrack, and goes so well with the movie
Out of Sight - again, the music works well with the feeling of the film
The Big Lebowski - well, what can I say Dude!
Amelie - beautiful music, beautiful film
Ocean's 11 - much like Out of Sight, the music is excellent

Billy Elliot had an excellent sound track, as did Walk the Line, What Women Want (and it needed it).
However on a bad note, I loved Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and bought the sound track yet that didn't transfer well. :(

The Matrix trilogy had an excellent soundtrack. No really memorable tunes, but added a lot of tension to some parts, just brilliant. Only thing missing would be a main theme, but it's probably my favourite soundtrack, especially Revolutions.

Brokeback Mountain and Donnie Darko (original, not directors cut), both brilliant.
