Movie Soundtracks....

After watching a couple of action flicks that were made in the 80's, I've noticed the end credit themes and songs through out the films (ones wrote for the film) are a lot better than the ones we have today.......well at least in my opinion, lol

Examples:-

The Running Man

Commando

Transformers The Movie (Hell the entire soundtrack is amazing)

What are you're peronal favourites from any films (not just the 80's)??

My favourite recent soundtrack is Hans Zimmer's score for "Inception".

Older stuff...

I absolutely love Ennio Morrricone's work... the "Dollars Trilogy", "The Untouchables", "Once Upon a Time in the West", "The Thing", etc.

The soundtracks for John Carpenter's movies during his pre-shite period were brilliant... "Escape from New York", the already-mentioned score for "The Thing", etc.

John Williams is an obvious choice..."Star Wars", "Indiana Jones", etc.

I like...

True Romance, I'm walking down the ailse to Hans Zimmers intro. :)

Train Spotting

Forrest Gump

Indiana Jones

Jackie Brown

Gross Point Blank (awfull film though)

I have to agree that the Inception soundtrack is amazing. Zimmer's last film, Sherlock Holmes, was pretty good too.

Beetlejuice is another fantastic score. It also introduced me to Harry Belafonte, which is a plus.

There's a track from Sunshine soundtrack called, Kanada's death Pt2, it's quite possibly an amazing piece of music.

And any discussion on movie soundtracks would not be complete without a passing mention to Clint Mansell for his amazing Requiem and Moon soundtracks.

I also have a soft spot for John Frizzell's score for Alien Resurrection. Also the Star Trek 2 and 4 soundtracks.

And just included for sheer, scary sounding-ness... The Event Horizon soundtrack, I listened to that in the dark one night and just about needed new pants it got me so nervous!

Oh...I know it's a Saturday night and all....but I love how people have totally misunderstood this thread!

Not sure if the OP is entirely serious here...for me, most 80's action movies always seemed to end with the most banal, cliched and non-descript 'rawk' cum pop tunes, usually by artists and banRAB never to be heard of again...and usually with good reason!

Ermmm...the thread is about songs that play over the end credits of movies...not about soundtracks in general.

CAN YOU READ MUTHERLOVERS!!!

I SAY THE FUTURE IS OURS...IF YOU...CAN READ!!!

Seems to me that the OP says credit and throughout the movie.

That would just about cover the whole soundtrack?

For me, i agree with other on here. Inception has a great soundtrack.

Love movie soundtracks.

Some movies have songs in them that were never released (at least not in their movie format). A couple of awesome songs spring to mind:

Dont ask the reason why (Restless Heart) from the movie "Secret of my Success" starring Michael J Fox - Lyrics of the released song are sompletely different to those in the movie (movie version is way better).

Breakin' the ice (Martha Wash) from the movie "Gung Ho" starring Michael Keaton. This song has never been released as a single or on an album.

Inception is the best one I've heard in a while.

Transformers The Movie 1984 is Epic.

Elliot Goldenthal's Alien3 is fantastic. Titus is brilliant in parts aswell.

I agree with John Carpenter, Christine is a wonderful score. Prince Of Darkness, Halloween, Escape From New York, Assault on Precinct 13 and They Live are really enjoyable scores.

Clint Mansell's The Fountain is better than the film.

Little Shop of Horrors (80's) is :D

Back to the Future, Manhunter, The Hitcher (80's), Predator, Heavy Metal, The Terminator. All fantastic.

Tangerine Dream's Thief and Near Dark are both
