I recentley downloaded the last samurai off the internet and converted it into a .wmv file. I was wondering does anyone know how to convert it into a file that will play on a dvd player?
 
*ahem* - firstly you should trying looking for a conversion guide in google or at doom9.o_g (fill in the gap yourself) and secondly, pay for your films you copyright infringing pikey you :mad:
 
if u have the Nero Express installed ,download the extra bit which is called Nero Vision Express , it converts any files to dvd files ,( VOBS) but it does take some time to convert.....
 
Yep, I use Nero Vision Express to convert all my ".avi", ".mpeg" etc files into .vob files and then burn to dvd+r discs. My pc isn't exactly the fastest so it can take anywhere between 13-19 hours to convert and burn the film during which the pc is totally unusable.

Although lately when I've *accidentally* come across films (in torrent files) some have already been in dvd (.vob) files complete with menu and scene selections all ready to burn straight to disc......

I know it's copyright infringement but I don't feel too guilty as when the film is officially released I go and buy the original discs!

No its not just u, i agree too, i used to use kazaa for downloaRAB but now ive stopped cos it takes so long, it used to take 2-3 hours for a film on my 512k , but it takes weeks now, no body is sharing anymore, i just either wait to buy it on dvd or watch it on tv.....Kazaa sucks............
 
We also have a type of television known as "on-demand". You point and click on your TV and the movie starts. You can watch it as many times in 24 hours as you wish and you pay about 5 dollars. Why bother to download?
 
IRC has always been the proper place to get anything you want (well for a pc).

i only use kazza for the odd mp3, but irc is so good for getting whole albums, cos you get covers and its the proper thing unlike kazaa where you dont know what you are getting all the time.

as the people on irc say Kazza is for kiddies :p

i use irc to download *cough* big files, im on ntl Broadband 600k, i can max out my connection at 75Kbps download.
but on irc, i never get this much, its always very low, could you explain why?
 
you may be downloading from a person who has only a 30k upload like me, at the moment i am downloading from a know xdcc bot (on a jap 34meg line) and i am getting 139 on my 1meg line.

look at the top speeRAB of who you are downloading off, if its like 1000k then you will max out if its below your top speed then of course you aint gonna.

Who gets most of his stuff off IRC - it's not what you know, it's who you know....
 
Depending on your standalone DVD player you can burn 'raw' mpg files straight to DVDR (create a data dvd in Nero) without the need for any conversion. I use this method and can fit multiple files onto a single disc - useful for several episodes of a tv series for example.
 
3mb connection and you can't be bothered?!

You could download like 8 movies overnight, I have 512k and always am downloading something or other, and find it very beneficial.
I have been using Bit Torrent more and more lately, no queues and there are always plenty of 'sources' .

What service provider you use for 3mb renegade??
