You're right about that, although I jumped out of my skin in the first minute with the woman in the car thing, so I'm not the one to judge. :lol: Re: Sky High, I think they're saying the same things about DEBS and now I'm really curious because I found out it isn't taking itself seriously after all. :)

Re: Suicide Kings. It's just so horribly... argh! I mean, you can tell right away that whoever made this (aside from the fact that they should die) is a Tarantino wannabe who just got out of college (or "screenwriting school"). The movie was so full of it (Hello? Drugs, Don Corleone, strippers, "funny" sidekicks, a "twist," and a frigging 70's flashback?!) it couldn't even see straight anymore. The plot pretends to be intellectual when actually, nothing happens in the present and everybody's just sitting around while Christopher Walken tries to figure out alone who's the inside man. Ugh.

Meanwhile... (:lol: ) I watched This is Spinal Tap last night. What can I say? :love:
 
bummer....here's something to ponder......the only thing worse than being young and poor...is being old and poor.....fortunately i fall into neither category........

:yay: I went to the Friendly Neighborhood Bootlegger last Thursday. Bought myself La Mala Educacion, The Day of the Jackal, Jackie Brown, Groundhog Day, Eraserhead, The Man Who Knew Too Much, and the Thai film Ong Bak. I've since finished watching them all, of course.
 
Okay...so I went to see "Sky High" (quit laughing, I'd seen everything else!)

And I have to say that I really enjoyed it :)! It was completely tongue and cheek, but SO much fun! I think I had a better time in that film than most of the 'blockbuster' films I've seen this year.
 
I'm breaking into my piggy but it's because I'm dead broke. Like, seriously. :(

I'll try to go rent Sin City tomorrow but with my mom's borrowed money. I don't even have $3.99. Anyway. I started school today so I won't be able to watch movies for a while after Sin City...

And then comes the Gladiator: EE so ugh!!! I hate being broke.

Last movie I watched was Eden and it was odd. :lol:

Saw "Criminal" after looking for it for a while. It was really good, I enjoyed it a lot. I saw it mostly for the cast, but the plot turned out to be good.

I rented "The Woodsman" and "Constantine". Very intense! :eek:

"The Woodsman" is truly because it's SO daring. And so scary. Kevin Bacon just *nailed* it! Movie magic.

"Constantine" really put on a good show. I liked it! Pacing could've been much better since it got slow too many times but the subject matter was quite cool.
 
Watched "The Girl in the Cafe" tonight. the vast majority of it was horribly awkward, more than half of it was surprisingly and incredibly charming, and all of it was extremely and completely fantastic. I thought it was just a love story, but it's so... so... much more. I think I am going to steal this from Blockbuster. lol. Please watch it. This is something I believe in SO strongly and the fac that they put it in a movie and the way it was executed and even how they rolled the credits at the end have changed my life and I hope many many others. These are things we all know today and try to ignore every single day.

I was unable to movie for a month, and then I started a recovery process so I missed lots of big movies. :( This sucks. But yeah, I have rented lots of new releases lately as well. Good times. :D

If I would have known that Alan Rickman had a part in it, or the guy from Love Actually, or, for that matter, that Jim Henson did the costumes for the aliens... I'd have seen IT way sooner; like probably in theatres! I am so mad at myself for once again listening to the "general public" about a movie and taking their opinions about it. I am so glad I rented this. Now I mist buy it. Immediately.
I watched all the special features too and they were so great. And the Improbability Drive button on the DVD is GENIUS!!
 
All I really remember about Suicide Kings is that I won a movie poster like that DVD cover from the first internet sweepstakes I entered, so that sort of got me hooked on online sweepstakes for a few years. :lol: I also remember having a mad crush on Jay Mohr back then, too. :lmao:

I don't remember much about Suicide Kings, but I don't think I was particuarly enthralled...

I just saw White Noise. It scared me...but someone jumping out and yelling "BOO" scares me, so the bar isn't set very high ;) I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE me some Michael Keaton, but the plot was really convoluted...and I'm still not quite sure what happened. The whole movie built up to nothing really.

That movie was such crap i stopped watching it half-way through. I watched the shape of things by neil labute. great movie, but the subject matter kind of pissed me off, but that was the point. Surprisingly good performances by Paul Rudd and Rachel Weisz.
 
I know I saw Suicide Kings back in 1998, but I don't remember the plot. :lol:

I read the book. The movie definitely didn't do it justice (hence it being a flop), but yeah, anything with Bruce in it... :sigh:

Re: Spirited Away. I loved it. I loved the little details that made it "real." :) I was pretty surprised when I was watching one of the commentaries and one of the people mentioned my favorite detail -- when Chihiro puts her shoes on and then taps the toe on the floor before going. :) I tried comparing the Japanese and the American audio versions, though, and god, I loved Daveigh Chase in Lilo & Stitch, but she just killed the movie here. :P

Re: Rocky Horror. Well... Tim Curry was awesome and Rocky Horror was hot, but I thought it was nearly plotless... second only to "Cats." Sorry, I HATE "Cats." :rolleyes:

Movies! Last night it was Spy Kids (not bad at all, and all the Tarantino/Rodriguez people there), History of the World Part I (The Inquisition, what a joy!) and Nightmare on Elm Street (a totally not scary movie with bad acting and corny lines (but you gotta love young Johnny Depp). Which reminds me -- jthorton17, you were watching a Bruckheimer movie. What did you expect? You were lucky enough to have someone like Johnny playing the lead. Next time, just watch it for entertainment value. Look for life's lessons elsewhere. ;)
