sure ya will buddy

better be careful to not have any blunts you're smoking while you clean up any oil accidentally set a fire to burn your niggardly hippie ass to a crisp.

It's logical because they ask US to pay for things they aren't willing to pay for.

Fuck.

That.

If these issues are so important that I should be compelled to pay for them then the people demanding I pay should be first in line with money and resources.

It's a simple concept- if you demand that soneone else do something, you should be willing to do it yourself.

If it's not important enough for you to do voluntarily, fuck off demanding that someone else do it involuntarily.

That's why it's logical.

It would go against what they're protesting. You claim they're hypocritical and your solution is for them to clean up the mess the company they're protesting made, for free.

Sounds reasonable.

They're protesting the company because of the damage it causes to the environment, therefore the premise is that they care about the environment.

Instead, they have political points to make while the environment they claim to care about is dying.

What is more important, making a statement or putting your money where your mouth is? This isn't about helping BP...this is about helping the earth, right?

Why would they clean up the oil spill?
Are they protesting their own reckless use of oil?

They're protesting the bad practices that lead to the spilling of oil. Going to clean it up would only help further the other side they're protesting against.

Did I say that?

Maybe you are unfamiliar with the concept of "BUSINESS" and how inventors of a product or process can make money by providing a good or a service.

Costner is putting his money where is mouth is in conjunction with a business, and that business could possibly help make the oil spill impact less while making money. Hell, if they didn't want to make money, they could make it a "non-profit" company and just pay for their costs.

That's a hell of a lot better than some loudmouth cunt like Rosie O'Donnell just flapping her lips.

So are the conservatives flipping this around and now blaming the liberals and environmentalists for the oil spill?

So you don't deny that at least one major environmental organization, The sierra Club, has requested on their website that "we" invest in pollution control?

Excellent. Now we're getting somewhere.

So, using the fact you and I just agreed on- that the Sierra Club has publicly requested funding for poluution control, let's board the logic train.

A)They demand that "we" invest in limiting pollution.
B)They have an opportunity to donate their time and resources to limiting polution, thereby showing leadership in, and committment to, the cause of stopping pollution.
C)They fail to spend their time and resources limiting pollution.
D)Their actions demonstrate that they're only interested in investing in pollution control if someone else foots the bill.

It's not a strawman, it's a legitimate complaint/request. If it's so important that "we" spend money to solve problems, why aren't you spending money to soLve problems?

Are you being obtuse for a reason?

Why?

The statement isn't "No Oil!" the statement is for legitimate oil safety/no oceanic drilling.

Or they hate companies that destroy the environment. I'd suppose if a natural plume of oil rose up out of the ocean from some underwater leak that these "hippies" and "lefties" would be more willing to lend a hand. You don't think their gripe has anything to do with the fact that BP fucked up?

Keep rolling with that strawman.
Cause it's impossible to say you want to protest BP and help the earth.

one must choose and clearly the decision is to help the earth!
Or they could suggest that BP pay for the damages and draw attention to the situation by protesting.

No no, if you're taking a stance in one direction at all then inherently you're diving off the high dive into the deep end with an anchor tied to your feet.
