Mountain bike for a heavy guy?

My dad would like a bike for Christmas, but he's a heavy guy - maybe 5'11 & 345 pounds. He's not interested in serious cycling or anything like that, maybe just riding the bike around the neighborhood every evening. He is looking to spend $250 max. I've read that we should be looking at steel frames & 26 spoke wheels. Can anyone suggest a few good bikes I can look at online? We're not sure if we will make the purchase online or in a store, but I'm willing to purchase from Walmart, Target, Dick's Sporting Goods, Amazon, and Overstock websites.
 
well you can probebly find a decent bike for that much but for a bigger guy a great bike would be a specialized enduro they can get pricey but look it up there comfy and a sweet bike for the trails
