Motorolla E-815 Mute Button

I recently turned in an E-815 in exchange for a VX8100.

I liked the Moto in general, however, I found the Vibrate function to be useless, and I absolutely hated the fact that the "OK" button was also the "Mute" button during calls. I found myself hitting it and muting the phone unexpectedly.

After getting the LG, I've found the speakerphone to be useless as the people I'm talking to can hear a bad echo and can never understand me - perhaps if I turn the volume down it would work, but then again, if I have to strain to hear it while driving - what is the point? The vibrate function is much better. In my area, I found the Moto to have better reception than the LG. I also like the text entry function of the moto better with it giving you the choices for words at the bottom of the screen just in case it didn't pick the word you wanted - I don't see anything like that on the LG.

I mostly use my phone to talk on and to do text messeging. I had planned on using bluetooth headset, but based on what I've read, the bluetooth on the LG 8100 sucks - of course, many of these threads were Pre V7 firmware.

What I'm contemplating doing is returning the 8100 and getting the E-815 back - simply because it has better reception, and I liked the text entry better. However, does anyone know if you can disable the "OK" button from being the mute button during calls? I thought the speaker phone WORKED better (its not louder) on the Moto, and although it seems bigger, the larger screen was easier on the eyes as well....

I'm pretty disappointed in how bad Verizon reduces the capabilities of these phones. Because I've only had each phone a few days each - does anyone know if it would be a mistake to swap back to the Moto. Will I find more things I don't like about it over time?

I have to say - neither of these phones made me "satisfied" with my purchase. For the price, they should both be better units both feature and performance wise...

Try asking about this in the motorola forum under verizon forum I understand though about the mute button it sure can be easily hit. Also there is a load of hacks to make the e815 better if you are into that.
