SMARTPHONE DESIGNER Motorola has dropped some hints about its upcoming Moto X smartphone that users will be able to design themselves.
Clearly looking to get people excited about its next smartphone, the firm has teased the Motorola Moto X on its website, talking up the facts that it's built in America and can be customised by the user.
The holding webpage, where users can go to register interest in the smartphone they haven't seen yet says, "The first smartphone designed, engineered and assembled in the USA is coming.
"It's also the first smartphone that you can design yourself. Because today you should have the freedom to design the things in your life to be as unique as you are."
But don't expect the option to slap a picture of your face on the back of the handset, as reports suggest that Motorola's "Designed by You" tagline refers to the wide variety of colours that will be available, with Motorola expected to release 12 variations of the Moto X handset.
Buyers apparently will also be able to upload a wallpaper for the handset too, and will have the option of adding a personal engraving on the back of the phone.
That's not all we know about the Motorola Moto X though, as Motorola CEO Dennis Woodside spoke about the device in May. He said that the handset will feature "advanced sensors" that will make the smartphone "aware of what's going on around it". While we're not entirely sure what that means, it sounds like the firm is looking to challenge Samsung.
Woodside also hinted that the device will outdo its rivals in battery life, and said that it will feature an AMOLED screen. We're also going to assume that it will run Android, given that Motorola is owned by Google.
We unfortunately don't know anything about the handset's availability or price, but rumours suggest that the phone will be released in both the US and UK. µ
