That sucks. Trust me, I know how it feels to have water damage on a phone, esp a Moto Droid. I recommend leaving the battery and phone itself in the bowl of rice for at least 2 more days just to be safe. Turning it on can lead to short circuiting if water's still present. This happened to me once, and after 3 days in the rice, it worked perfectly. :) Good luck!

I was at the beach with my family for my cousin's graduation. The tide came in super fast and hit the bag my phone was in. My phone has a case on it (regular kind, prevents damage if you drop it) and it had a screen cover on. I started panicking and quickly looked to see if it would light up. The light was still flashing from a twitter message I assumed I recieved. I ran to dry sand, grabbed a towel and started pulling everything off my phone. I took the case off - wasn't very much water on the phone, but there was water - got the batter case off and pulled the battery out. I sat there trying to dry it off and get the sand out of it for a good half hour. I wasn't able to do much but let it dry for about an hour until I got home. As soon as I did, I put it in a bag of rice and put a really strong and bright lamp over it. I tried putting the battery in and turning it on, but it doesn't do anything. The battery is seperate from the phone in the rice. I need my phone for tomorrow. Do you think it will work? Is there anything else I should be doing? Anything you know would be great.

I haven't plugged anything into it - I read plugging in the charger can fry the phone.
