MOTORCYCLE/STREETBIKE HELP!!!!?

Does anyone know what the big difference between using expensive motorcycle oil and modern synthetic automobile oil in a motorcycle is?? I've heard of people using either/or and having no problems. I have a 600 cc streetbike and i get bashed trying to pick one or the other. I don't mind spending more to protect my bike but is there really a difference??
 
well ''they'' say stick to the manufactures oil viscosity,i say ''bah''......super bikes then yes,stick to synthetic.older bikes like a thicker oil.i used asda's own car oil in my xtz660 nitrous and it ran alot better,lots smoother...its horses for courses.
