Driving home from work today the engine shut off at a light as if I let go of the clutch. I restarted it BUT it needed the choke all the way up to keep it running. It wont go over 15 mph and died out every time i tried to take it up a hill. Was running fine before... now it wont go above 2nd gear! Please advise, I need to get this fixed fast.
More info: '86 Honda Rebel 250. With less than 6k original miles on it.

It sounds like it is overfilled with oil. That happened to a buddy I had once. If it's not that, try the spark plug. It may be bad.

Basically you need to do a 'process of elimination' and check out things like:
Fuel in Tank Fuel to Carb(s)
Air Intake (Filter) clear and clean.
Spark at Plug(s) every time.
Engine Oil Level.
Water in Electrical Switches.
All Electrical Connections Good and clean.
Battery Terminal Connections
and so on .. and on .. until you locate the problem.

For further and more detailed help you need to state the Make and Model of bike, mileage, general condition, recent history (has it just been serviced and if so by whom, etc)

If the bike starts and runs it can't be too much of a problem .. stay cool, look close and you'll find it! :o) Good Luck

Always give year, make, engine size and model # when asking questions. We need all of that info to give an informed answer.

2 & 4 stroke engines can have similar problems, requiring different repair procedures.
