Although the V3i has the same style as the V3, the blue logo and the etched faceplate help set it apart. You can further set it apart by modding the outer case to metallic blue, violet, maroon or gold.
I have a gold modded case V3i that looks like a hybrid between the limited gold dolce & gabanna (because of the black inner case) and the 2nd Edition unlimited D&G. Although the actual 2nd Ed D&G is available @ motorola for around $600.00, I have yet to see any on the street and it's unique enough that people take notice.
You also have to consider that the V3x is made for Europe, the 3G on that phone is not compatible with the 3G HDSPA that Cingular offers, and there's also the matter of the missing 850MHz band that you will need if you roam in rural areas of the US.
To be honest, looks was a major deciding factor for me choosing my V3i, the V3x although RAZR like is simply not as thin or as sleek as the V3i. It's also missing the anodized aluminum casing of the V3i with it's all plastc body. That and the missing 850 band and the useless (at least in the US) 3G band prettry much put my decision over the top.
I do miss the A2DP bluetooth for wireless stereo and the LED flash of the V3x, but not so much so that I would choose that over the V3i. Perhaps if I lived in Europe where the 3G and the 900MHz are much more important factors, then it would be a no-brainer.
With all that said I still recommend the V3i over the V3x. It looks and feels better and it's more practical in the stateside.
