Most underrated bands ever?

It is pretty hard to claim a band is overrated when their stuff is in top thrity on the billboard charts...

Maybe "gaining popularity" would be a better description of their status...

@ james -- i like the dismeraberment plan! but you're right, i'm not often overwhelmed by their dedicated fans.
also - idk what has been said already but The Mountain Goats are underrated and for the amount of amazing music John Darnielle has made that's just insane.
Also, I think that The Replacements are underrated. Paul Westerberg is just so talented.

Love Tiger Trap and do feel they're underrated though I still prefer Beat Happening, which brings up that I feel The Halo Benders, the side project of Calvin Johnson of Beat Happening and Doug Martsch of Built To Spill, was/is a very underrated band.

Yeah this is true. Considering how long they've been around they have released a lot of mediocre stuff. Their newer stuff isn't very good but I think lots of their older stuff is underrated. They're also probably not what I would call one of the "most underrated banRAB ever"... I just think they have done some pretty good stuff, even if it's in small amounts, and that it doesn't always get much credit.

I wouldn't give the thurabs up on Primus being underrated, but they are indeed one of my top ten favorites. Kalamazoo is a good song.
