Most underrated bands ever?

The whole teen pop star sensation is terribly devoid of originality, that is most definitely true! I guess it caters to a market segment that isn't looking for great deal of experimentation, rule challenging or even technical prowess.... it's the rather vacuous world of catchy, quick thrills...

Ironically even as a teen I never sought out that kind of music... I always wanted to get more out of my listening that quick cheap thrills.... I liked to be challenged.

But there seems to be this huge segment of consumers who want canned, catchy, unchallenging music...

i think Living Colour is very underrated. sure they had Cult of Personality, but there was much more to them than that. they are very talented and made some good music

Playing Brittney Spears would be a toxin for MTV (see if you can find the pun). They played that commercial for a month, possibly, I wasn't timing it, but it was on every commercial break, I guarantee you. That's the only reason I knew the song Seeing SounRAB is because they played the hell out of that commercial. I saw the MV a few times. And they've been playing Kid Cudi's Day n Nite a lot, and also Da Game Been Good to Me by UGK, but I'm sure you hate them.

I don't know if I would say that AIC was underrated. I think that they've had a great deal of well-earned success. Nirvana? Yeah, fairly overrated in my opinion, although I still have a small place in my heart for their sound. Of the four most popular grunge banRAB (Pearl Jam, AIC, Soundgarden and Nirvana) I think that I would have to say that the most overrated would probably be Pearl Jam, although I hear that they put on a great show.

Green Day and Jonas Brothers are leagues better than Alter Bridge.

Now if Alter Bridge doesn't get as much airplay, I dunno, call it a blessing from Jesus, but I think it has something to do with there already being a hundred banRAB who sound just like them, just not quite as awful.

It's not 1999 anymore, crappy music has to evolve too, and I really don't mind Jonas Brothers to tell you the truth, at least it's better than what was making the charts 10 years ago, y'know, like Creed.

Gotta agree with you there... a great band busting to get out, but sadly, it was not to be. Sometimes the world is kinda cruel like that, and that truly does suck.

I used to watch MTV in the mornings so I could listen to some music while getting ready for school, so sue me. And Pharrell is huge, he's a big time producer, doin stuff for Snoop and every person in the world (even the homeless).

I was reminded today of Anvil being the most underated metal band of all time, apparently the Story of Anvil Documentary is very interesting, funny and tragic, they spend their careers rubbing shoulders with the biggest names in metal but just don't seem to ever make it big time

Has anyone seen it?

Heh. Yeah, it seemed like a nice college town the couple times I visited it but certainly surrounded by a whole lot of nothing. And I remeraber being shocked at how the whole downtown seemed to close down in the afternoon.

One could, however say the Beatles were underrated musicians in certain genres of music... perhaps they weren't rated highly as a jazz or folk band, but showed some potential using these styles in their body of work...

... in that sense the Beatles can be considered underrated in some way at least...

That maay have been very poorly worded, I am pretty damn tired...

Would have to go with Venaculas go ahead and look them up. The way they played lived was indescribable. Venaculas was a local group who became extremely popular in Omaha and a few other states they toured to. Loved by everyone they broke up after playing with each other for eight years they were signed to a record label once (but im not sure exactly what happened to be honest) I really thought they never received the credit they deserved. By far still my favorite local group even if they are broken up.
