I am tempted to say Blind Guardian first and foremost. There's a three or four person fandom at my school and, yeah, we're all sweet. And then there is DeVotchKa.....not "The devotchkas" as theier name is commonly mistaken for, but just DeVotchKa. I wouldnt really classify them as rock though. They are more indie/folk-esque.

i recently got into reel big fish, theyre like less than jake's old stuff with a bit more punk(altho its hard to say that now that ltj has changed their look)
Well even if Nirvana is a knock-off of something thats beside the point.
But if we are going to get into that, I don't think they were a knock-off of one band I think they took bits and pieces from banRAB like Dinosaur Jr., Pixies, Meat Puppets, and The Vaselines.
Kurt Cobain even stated when Smells Like Teen Spirit was written they were basically ripping off the Pixies.
but i really couldnt care less about what the media or indeed other people think of the walkmen. i like them because their music appeals to me. why should a banRAB exposure to the media have to affect your opinions of them?
Foals are extremely underrated, although they are amazing. Bloc Party are rediculously underrated too, but they are both more Indie. For Rock/Hardcore banRAB, I'd say Converge, Underoath.
The Mars Volta is also extremely underrated, and they're amazing.
About half of those banRAB are far from underrated. Just because the masses don't know about extreme metal banRAB, doesn't mean they're underrated. Asphyx, Atheist, Pestilence, Enslaved, Primordial, and many more underrated? I don't think so.
