Uh....Were you watching FOX CHILDREN'S NETWORK on afternoons in February 1991?
That's when Dark Water, the miniseries predecessor of the more/better remembered The Pirates Of Dark Water, aired. I remember viewing DW on KTVU at 4pm M-F. But I'd learnt of this animated work some months earlier, while leafing thru a TV Guide one night at a Woolworth's, if memory recalls. I found this piece about a cat named David Kirschner, who ran a "reinvigorated Hanna-Barbera studio". DW was mentioned; I remember it being boasted of as having "backgrounds reminiscent of Wyeth...."
I was 22yo when this happened, BTW....
You ever hear about Roddy McDowall enacting Niddler? That only happened for DW; his voice was stripped for TPODW / replaced by that of Jim Cummings. That means that, to hear RM enact Niddler, you'd have to have recorded any/all episodes of the FCN miniseries. Now, who of TZ did that? I? Sadly, no.
S1 of TPODW consisted of, in altered form, the five FCN DW miniseries episodes, plus eight new episodes created expressly to ABC's specifications. Just sayin'.
