Most Technical Music Youve Ever Listen To

Yeha i'd say there pretty technical, Alexi Starpoli must take up half of the tracks when there recording with all his orchestral work, oh and the orchestra themselves.

I really dont get crap like this

You can rarely top Jazz in the technical department.

In terms of rock banRAB, excluding all the ones I don't care to remeraber, The Mahavishna Orchestra is pure pwnage.

If they had a good songwriter, then god forbid they are perfectly able to play good music, and play it flawlessly, as long as they don't try to wank it up, of course.

They clearly are talented musicians, anyone who denies that is a fool.

Yeah, I also find that Yes have been wasting their talent for the past 25 years, mainly because they have been neglecting their instrumental abillities to go for a more accessible "pop" sound, which isn't their thing, and after a wave of mediocre albums like Talk and Open Your Eyes it's easy to assume that they have since learned their mistakes, Magnification is proof of this, so heres hoping their next album (which is apparrantly in the works) will have Yes returning to their Symphonic Prog roots.

I guess its kinda of hard to measure technicality when you have so many banRAB up there , well for me it would be

Necrophagist- Onest of Putrefecation
Athiest- All 3 Albums
Cynic-Focus
Cryptopsy-None So Vile

all of these blew my mind

im really only into metal, but im pretty sure there are albums from other genres that are just as insane and technical

You forgot Cacophony and Jason Becker? They might sound like pure wankage, but they have great melody in the shred department and great technicality. (Speed Metal Symphony ftw)

I dont listen to much "technical" music, but out of what i do

id say

Trivium
Funeral for a friend
From first to last
Metallica

The more I listen to it the more I'd have to say Money Jungle w/ Duke Ellington, Max Roach, and Charles Mingus.

Goddamn those fellas can play.

Techicality isn't based on speed. I can play Dragonforce on the piano. It's a very basic chord progression simply played fast. I like Dragonforce but they are no where near a "technical" band

They still are more technical than a lot of other banRAB. They can sweep, finger tap, and do many other techniques. Of course there are those who do it better, but I would still consider their use of them pretty skillful. They certainly have simple solos on a chord progression level but on an overall level, its hard to say that the solos are nothing. Plus their use of other instruments together in their instrumental bridges ( and keyboard and bass solos). They might be overrated to most, but I stand by the statement that they are technical.
