Most shocking ending

Which films do people think had a surprising ending which really shocked you and made you think I never really saw that coming?

Get Carter - the original. You don't expect him to get shot like that at the end.

Blair Witch Project - when you see that guy facing the wall.

Invasion of the Body Snatchers when Donald Sutherland turns out to be one of them.

I'm sure there are better ones... :)

As many times as you like but a lot of people enjoyed it. OMG here's a scary thought what if people can't hear you saying it because you're dead? But then that would mean i'm dead too! Now I didn't see that one coming!!!

Yeah Saw got me to, so did The Others, Skeleton Key oh and sixth sense, even though everybody else said it was obvious I didnt see it coming :o :p

I think I'm going to avoid this thread! Bound to be so many spoilers here.

I thought Elektra getting killed at the end of DareDevil was quite shocking at the time. I wasn't used to superhero films where the female lead died.

Se7en was shocking too, as you didn't see her get killed and Hollywood usually loves the death scenes.

Yes union_jak, the endings should probably be for older films. That is not current cinema releases or films just out on DVD, which people may be seeing for the first time.

ones mentioned so far that I did'nt see coming either .... The others, Usual Suspects, Sixth sense, and Planet of the Apes

and that one where Glenn close was the lawyer, and Jeff Bridges really WAS the killer ... did'nt expect that

( oh and that creepy S-hook in the diner being the murderer in "In the heat of the night" )

I liked Phantasm: Oblivion with the way it ended. If my memory is correct it went something like this:

The Tall Man pulls out the killer sphere from inside Mike's head and dives into the portal with it. Reggie grabs his custom made quad barreled sawn-off shotgun, and turns to Mike and says something like "Hang in there, Mike. I'll be right back!" and then dives through the portal after The Tall Man. Then the scene changes as if Mike is having flash backs as he is lying on the ground. He is envisioning himself in his younger days when he and Reggie first met The Tall Man. And he is in someway in contact with Reggie's mind and says the worRAB of "I'm dying Reggie, I'm dying" just as he gets into Reggie's ice cream truck in the vision and they journey down the road, and the screen fades to black and the credits roll and the best horror theme ever kicks in - The Phantasm main theme. That was back in 1998 and we have yet to have an answer to it all. If we ever do get another sequel in the near future. It kind of chokes me up a little this ending, as I have come to love all the characters in the 4 Phantasm movies, even the bad ones. There is one thing you are always guaranteed of with this series. And that is a killer ending to each movie (pun intended). The endings only improve in each one, but it will be hard to top the ending of Phantasm: Oblivion, 4th in the series (and hopefully not the final entry either). If it is, then I guess it is a good way to go.

Sorry even as a dead person I wouldn't rate "Blair Witch". I just found it totally dull. Infact I found the second one more than the first one.

Oh dear seems like someone missed the joke.
Seriously though saying stuff like"how many times do I have to say..." is kinda rude, fair enough you didn't like it but why does that mean other people can't?

The Secret Window- liked the fact he got away with the it, and love the way the very last shot is of a close-up of him biting into the corn on the cob!!!!!!!!

The Skeleton Key starring Kate HuRABon and Peter Sarsgaard. I could guess Kate will be the victim, but I didn't think they will change their souls. I was thought Peter and Gena were mom and son, I didn't think they were lovers. Great film! ;)

I have to agree with that one, first time I saw it totally got me, never saw it coming :)

Also the first time I saw Shawshank redemption, never saw that one coming either, I was totally convinced he was going to kill himself.
