Most Pointless Song in an Animated Film?

You mean like this gem?

With that one statement, you just shot down every single musical ever made, and not just Disney. That's how musicals work; characters break into song spontaneously. Disney didn't invent the trend, nor are they somehow at fault for capitalizing on the fact that many people enjoy musicals. You may not like any Disney song, but lots of people love them. Everything doesn't have to be an action comic-book style thing in order to be considered good, you know. It's OK to express your opinions, but not in a way that basically belittles an entire genre just for being what it is.

What in the world does that have to do with anything?

Of course Disney didn't think of the original story for The Little Mermaid. That true of a lot of what they do. But what does that have to do with the topic?

:confused::confused::confused:

That's irrelevant. This thread is supposed to be about pointless songs in movies, not a place to list all of the things that you hate about Disney. If you just want to rip the Disney studio to shreds, create your own thread solely for that purpose.

Sondheim didn't come up with Sweeney Todd on his own. Leonard Bernstein didn't entirely come up with West Side Story on his own.

Not that I'd say any of the Disney musicals are THAT great (possible exception made for Nightmare Before Xmas, and some of them are very good), but adapting older stories into musicals has been done by many people.

Alright-- time to get this thread back on topic.

If it's not a discussion about 'pointless songs in animated films', then it's going to get deleted.

I'd also like to remind posters to use respect when posting. While everyone is entitled to an opinion, it needs to be presented in a manner that respects other opinions as well. When you post your opinion in a respectful manner, others will discuss in a respectful manner.

This topic can really go somewhere if we keep it on track and post with respect. Thank you.
