I just read recently that the United States has been in armed war for a little over 10 percent of its existence, and when I thought about it the United States has been in many wars for a country that's so young. Are there any other countries in the world today that have been in war for a larger amount of their existence then the United States? I'm assuming Israel has to be up there.
P.S. This isn't meant as some short of backhanded remark towards the United States foreign policy, I'm actually very proud of our military heritage.
