Most Known American Icon

The thing is, WB barely does anything with Bugs besides the yearly DVD release and the DC comics, while Disney puts Mickey all over the place. You can see Mickey as the shape of the logo, DVD releases, comics, preschool shows, and tons among tons of merchandise.

A lot of people (me included) prefer Bugs over Mickey when it comes to their cartoons. But when it comes to actual recognition from the average everyman, I think the answer to who the biggest icon is is pretty obvious.
 
I wonder why we never seen any new Looney Tunes cartoons besides those "Holiday Specials" or "Movie Specials".

Warner Brothers could always just make a bunch of 13-minute episodes, can't they?
 
There were some for a while, starting with Tiny Toons*, then with Animaniacs*, Sylvester & Tweety Mysteries, Taz-Mania and Duck Dodgers. Then they just kind of fell off.



*The former shows weren't true Looney Tunes shows, but they nonetheless copied the style of the LT/MMs and sported cameos by the Looney Tunes gang.
 
This thread is about the most KNOWN not most POPULAR. Almost everyone in the civilized world knows who GWB is, doesn't him him popular though.

I'd have to say Mickey Mouse, then Superman. I would think Bugs Bunny would be 3rd however I'd imagine a lot of his antics would be subject to gov't censorship in other nations, which would effect his cache' on the world stage. I'd say Batman would be in the top 5 however he might be a sanctioned character given his dark appearance.
 
I would definitely say that either Bugs Bunny or Mickey Mouse is number one. Both are highly well-known so I think that its a tie. For third place, I would go with Superman since he's one of the most well-known superheroes.
