Most Inaccessable Artists?

Alot of people might desagree with me, for me, its the White Stripes, no matter how hard I try it makes me cringe when I hear them.

I didn't like Bad Company at first but I started to appreciate them lately, and ZZ Top is one of my favorites, I consider them as having a "less is more" approach to guitar playing, and having "less" make every note is important to the song.

It's like who can honestly say they know every single note that Clapton or Buckethead is playing, right?

Some of their albums are very inaccessible, like Meet the Residents, Third Reich n Roll and Eskimo. But my favorite stuff from them, like Duck Stab/Buster & Glen and The Commercial Album, has a very poppy vibe to them.

Don't even ask me what i think about Merzbow, i still have no clue.

Have you tried Tweedles? It's a more recent album and a brilliant tip from Jackhammer, it's more laidback but still very weird and touches upon all sorts of genres. It's the most accessible i've heard from them.

Dalek were pretty easy to get into for me, however I have heard that they can be hard to get into, I guess my version of Gruf for you.

From what I've gathered, the people who made this "music" recorded the voices of mental patients. So basically the "vocals" are mentally/psychologically insane people screaming. Pretty hellish. As fas as coolness goes, I think it's an interesting idea, but I don't consider it particularly artistic. And God knows it doesn't sound good. At least to my ears that is, I can't vouch for everyone else.

I always thought of Bad Company as a disappointment especially given the quality of Paul Rodger`s stuff with Free.

Early ZZ Top were certainly unique with their southern blues boogie sound and "Deguello" was certainly their highlight......and how could anyone forget those boilersuits and bearRAB.:tramp:

Joking aside. I understand that "Inaccessible" depenRAB on the person.

A lot of music people find inaccessible is not to me, not just the standard prog stuff, but a lot of the avant stuff, Frank Zappa, John Zorn, Brian Eno, The Residents, Henry Cow, Mr. Bungle. I don't get what is so inaccessible about it, it has a big appeal to me. Just because it's incredibly bold and experimental doesn't mean it's hard for me to get into, that's the kinda music I crave to hear.

So for me, the music of Fred Frith and Glenn Branca isn't anywhere near as inaccessible as say, the music of ZZ Top or Bad Company, so accessibility like everything else is a subjective thing.

Ya, it reminRAB me of being completely hammered to the point you can barely talk or understand wut anyone else is talking about, just a disaster at best.

I only started listening to the Residents a couple of years ago, because being a Devo fan (their early period) the Residents were recommended to me by a friend.

All this talk of inacessibility and Frank Zappa etc makes me want to pull out and listen to "Trout Mask Replica"
