Most gruesome deaths in American animation

There are a few gruesome deaths that I can think of in American animation.

Mufasa: I swear that when I first saw this movie in threatres, it was pretty intense to have him fall off a cliff and land in a stampead like that. It was sad, yet scary at the same time.

Scar: This was even more gruesome than Mufasa's death. He was attacked and possibly eaten by his former minions. And if they didn't kill him the fire probably did. While Zira did commit suicide in the sequel, I feel that it wasn't as intense or at least not as gruesome as either Scar's or Mufasa's deaths.

The Huntsclan: The scene where almost everyone in the Huntsclan are killed by being sent into a vortex like that. Not only was that so intense for a Disney cartoon, but the scene with Jake and Rose just makes me cry so much.

The Joker: Now the Joker's death in Return of the Joker is by far the most intense death scene I've seen. I believe that I saw the uncut version a few months ago and his death was just so scary and intense. The way Robin knew that he killed the Joker, even though he was just trying not to kill Batman, put so much more moral pressure and scaring on him. I think that I remember the cut version when it aired on CN once, but I think that the uncut version has more power in it than the off-screen electrocution. Besides that, it was just really scary to see the Joker actually die by his own gun, which looked like a toy gun too, then cheat death by taking over Robin's body and then die again. Now that was intense and gruesome.

I'm guessing this is from the failed American Street Fighter series shown on the USA Network in the mid-90s?

Granted that movie was rated PG-13, so the producers had more leeway in showing violence than they'd normally had.

I'd say that Optimus' death in the Transformers Movie (1986, not 2007) was pretty graphic, as was Duke's death in the G.I. Joe film.

The funny thing about the Huntsclan deaths is the fact a few episodes earlier we saw there were a bunch of kids at the Huntsclan Academy Jake and Rose's own ages. They were pretty much killed along with the adults. Rose killed no less than 500 people, most of them children, in an instant.

Now THAT sounds interesting. I'd like to see.

And I know it's not AMERICAN animation, but it WAS left uncensored when the show aired in America for a young target audiance, compared to lots of other violence edits, so I'm gonna go ahead and say it anyway. Roy Focker's death in Robotech was pretty disturbing, if only because if he'd went for medical attention instead of visiting his girlfriend, he'd have survived.

Duke's DEATH? Don't you mean COMA? *wink wink*

Add me 2 the list of people who wanna c that cell, it souds neat.

As for gruesome deaths:

Joker's in the uncut ROTJ. WHY did they have to dumb it down so much for the censored version, WHEN has Batman ever been aimed at kids anyway? (Oh, wait, that question asnwers itself: The Batman)

Toyman's death in Superman: Doomsday. I thought it was rather brutal.

Bane's electrocution. It was...morbid how he then managed to chuck the lighter at Batman

Nicodemus being crushed to death underneath the Brisby cinderblock house in Secret of NIMH, particularly as you see his arm and part of his clothing sticking out of the wreckage when Justin and the others go to rescue him.

when shredder in a possible future killed all the turtles( mostly by minion and kirai but it was shredders orders) sept donny

mikey was julienned

ralf was killed by karai

leo was killed by being slashed in the back

hun and stockman got crushed by shredder

the way Donatello killed shredder with a lazser drill

and this is 4Kids cartoon

Tala's death in JLU's "Alive!"

in the commentary they said they had to TONE DOWN her screams of anguish in sound editing. Makes you wonder just how blood-curdling her perfomance was for the live read.

agreed on the Joker's un-cut death
the slip-n-slide electrocution death was a weak ending for him

Brock Samson and Korgoth the Barbarian have each done some pretty insane kills. If you've seen either show, you probably know what I'm referring to.

I always thought Syndrome's death in The Incredibles was pretty gruesome. True you don't actually see it, but he clearly got sucked into the engine of his own jet...all the while scrambling to get away...and then the whole thing exploded. It makes me wince everytime I watch it. I know he was bad and everything but geeez.

Then there are the multiple explosions where many of his henchmen die. I don't know if I'd call those deaths gruesome exactly, but it's pretty darn violent.

I agree with the poster/s who mentioned Nicodemus and The Joker.

I haven't seen the new Doomsday film, but it sounds pretty intense.

This may not be aimed at kids, but the part in Family Guy's Untold Story where Stewie breaks that reporter's neck.

The Joker's death in uncensored ROTJ. The censored version's was sooo lame...

Toyman's death in Superman: Doomsday. Oi!

I have to wonder why the Evil-Superman in "S:Doomsday" went to the trouble of dragging him into the sky and dropping him. Wouldn't it have been easier to just break his neck or heat-fry him on the spot? It would've been even worse than just dropping him.
