Most Disturbing Moment In A Film

Another vote here for the rape scene in Irreversible, but also the scene where the man gets his face caved in with the fire extinguisher.

The rape scene in A Clockwork Orange

And the scene in Pan's Labyrinth where the guy gets his nose broken/completely smashed with the bottle. Just horrid.

The scene in The Marathon Man where Laurence Olivier tortures Dustin Hoffman by drilling his teeth out. Just the sound of the drill makes me shudder.

I remember as a wee laddie being appalled by the scene in 'A Man Called Horse' where they stuck claws through his chest and then swung him about on the end of ropes. Saw it years later and wondered why the hell it had ever bothered me. I guess we grow up and get inured to such things. Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. It's reached a point now where I don't think anything you see in the cinema could truly disturb me. There are certainly unpleasant things on view from time to time, but you just shrug - it's all make believe, so what, and move on.

Oh god I honestly can't bear to watch this  have to fast forward :p

I find the caravan scene in The Hills Have Eyes (2006) deeply disturbing. Especially the bit where that guy gets burnt alive :(

I saw this when I was about 10. It disturbed me for a long time.

Also the baby dying in trainspotting just put me so on edge, that it spoiled the rest of the film. I was pretty stoned which didn't help.

So many mention definately the bite the kerb scene in American History X

Once were Warriors

Found Wolf Creek particularly disturbing partly because of the actor playing the psycho - i grew up in Australia and am used to seeing him in virtually every Aussie show and is always the nice guy - totally freaked me out seeing him so evil.

Borat wrestling scene very disturbing.

Am sure theres many more.

Did it have English subtitles? I can't seem to find a "screening"(;)) with subtitles.

And PoisonDwarf18, i dunno whether you were joking, but in case you weren't, i highly doubt that it'll appear uncut on Film4 if everything i've heard about it is true. Film4 has to adhere to the BBFC's classifications like any other channel. Frightfest is run by Film4, but it doesn't mean that it'll appear on their TV channel.

I found the sceen in The Green Mile where Edward Delacroix is electrocuted to be very disturbing. Percy Whetmore had purposely not put the wet sponge on his head to aid the electrical current ! and that image stayed with me for a long time. Other than that ! the film was brilliant.

The Knife fight scene in "Saving Private Ryan", where the German soldier stabs the American in the heart and looks into his eyes as he dies, always makes me cringe, as does the scene where the medic dies ( "My Liver !" ) . . . . .
