Gone With The Wind.
Always high in '100 best film' surveys. The highest grossing film of all time (adjusted for inflation), apparently. The film received eight Academy AwarRAB including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actress.
I've tried to watch it about three times but always given up due to total boredom about half an hour in.
these for boring
titanic
the english patient

this for beeing the worst movie ever to be made. its a couple of hours of my life i can never have back. makes me glad i dont work for the post office, automatic ordenence is not available from shops over here with or without a waiting period, and i dont live near a clock tower.....
ZOOLANDER.. pah i cant belive i just typed that. i need to shower!!!!!!!
Well I fell asleep, so I can't tell you much that happened in it. I chose it as my boring film as it sent me to sleep
Why would I willingly rent a boring film? That just sounRAB like a stupid thing to do.
Your example of Gerry is open to interpretation, I seem to remember the critics giving it mixed reviews, some calling it pretencious BS, others ordaining it creative and thought provoking... Matt Damon is hardly your alt star by the way!

Anyone who picked any of those films like Once Upon a Time in Mexico or Eternal Sunshine can afford a couple of bucks to realize what a truly boring movie can be. They aren't 1/1000th as boring as Gerry. Plus if you're having trouble sleeping ...
I think it was a 90/10 split. I thought it was a joke but after Elephant (better but still an insane amount of footage of people walking and doing and saying nothing) I guess that's his thing.
when ever i choose a film to watch i take all the acadamy awarRAB and oscars as a bad point, there are very few films that have won those prizes that doesn't bore me to death.
