My bf and I just saw the hip surgeon who was referred by the new spine surgeon at Mt. Sinai here in NY. We've know for a few years that his hips were bad. He has avascular neucrosis. The femoral head is damaged and worn and the only way to fix this is with a hip replacement. According to the hip surgeon, this is what is causing groin pain, knee pain, thigh pain and most importantly back pain on his right side since he is compensating for his hips. We saw another hip surgeon about 2 years ago and he was going to do the same thing but then we found out that the fusion didn't take so my bf had to go back for revision surgery. So as of now surgery is set for July 7th.
