More questions about dance lessons for the first dance?

Hi! How many people did not take dance lessons for their first dance? Was it because you already knew how to dance well enough? We had started to take lessons, but we can no longer go because due to my FH's work schedule, he'll have to be away a lot over the next couple months, and we just can't fit enough lessons in to make it worth while. We've had a couple lessons and learned some basic steps. I am pretty disappointed we won't be doing something more memorable like we had planned. Do you think guests will be disappointed? Has anyone else done simple waltz steps and everyone enjoyed it? I feel like it's not going to be special enough now, and I'm discouraged. Thanks!

I wouldn't worry about guests being disappointed. I'm sure you will be just fine. We are planning to take some lessons and maybe get our first dance choreographed for fun, but we'll see if that actually happens once we get closer to the wedding ...

As long as you know some basic steps you be will fine. I think most of the people who take lessons do it because they don't know how to dance at all. Otherwise they are getting choreography to put on a bit of a performance for their guests. But if you don't, no one till be disappointed because it wouldn't have been expected.

My husband and I had a very similar situation. We were supposed to be taking dance lessons, but had to wait until the very end because of my work and school schedule, so we only got to learn the very basics. Our guests were honestly just impressed that we knew anything other than just swaying back and forth, as most of them had done at their weddings.
Your guests are certainly not going to be disappointed! They will just be happy to see you both happily in each other's arms.
Don't worry about your first dance being fancy... just enjoy your day together.
