More PS3 info

Even with a decrease in cost, it would have to be a substantial amount for demand to rise without 3rd party support for the software. Sony is already taking a hit with the $600 price tag where as Nintendo is actually making a small profit. I hope they get some stellar games out soon.....

Basically the hardcore gamers have gotten theirs and now the PS3 has to appeal to the mass market, one that is money conscious, and which probably went out and bought PS2s because of the game library and the lower prices of games. The mass market looked at the price of the games, $60, and decided it is too expensive. They know their children, that they will want most of the games. Therefore it became easier to justify the PS2 when a lot of their games are $20 (Greatest Hits).

I'm sure that the PS3 will continue to sell. It's just that 50 million Americans are not about to rush out and buy them. I figure about 10% of Americans own, or will own HDTVs. I figure that 10% of these owners will buy PS3s, especially for the Blue Ray player. So Figure that Sony will sell about 3.3 million units within a year's time.

Let's be realistic - Christmas is past and the bills are going to now have to be paid. So figure another 6 months before Americans start to re-open their wallets, or just as school lets out for the summer. You would think that parents would buy them during the winter time, but those heating bills will have t be paid first.
